The Grimm Legacy Continues: Peacock Announces Feature-Length Movie Reboot to Release on…

The beloved supernatural drama Grimm is officially returning—but this time on the big screen. Peacock has confirmed that a feature-length movie reboot of the fan-favorite series is in the works and is set for release on 15 December 2025. Titled simply Grimm: Legacy Reborn, the film will revive the dark fairytale world that captivated audiences for six seasons.

The reboot is being spearheaded by original series creators Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt, and Jim Kouf, who promise a continuation of the original timeline with a bold cinematic twist. While Peacock has remained tight-lipped about the full plot, insiders reveal the movie will pick up five years after the series finale and delve deeper into the mysterious Wesen bloodlines.

Lead star David Giuntoli returns as Nick Burkhardt, the Portland detective-turned-Grimm, joined by familiar faces including Russell Hornsby (Hank), Silas Weir Mitchell (Monroe), and Bitsie Tulloch (Juliette/Eve). New cast members are also joining, including a mysterious antagonist played by Rami Malek, whose character is said to possess ties to ancient Wesen royalty.

Peacock is positioning this reboot as more than just a nostalgia trip. According to executive producers, the film will serve as both a continuation and a launchpad for a potential new series or movie franchise. “This is a love letter to the fans,” said Greenwalt. “But it’s also a bold new chapter in the Grimm mythology.”

Filming wrapped earlier this year in Vancouver and Portland, returning to some of the show’s most iconic locations. The production team went to great lengths to retain the eerie, fairytale-noir atmosphere while taking advantage of a bigger budget and cinematic scope.

In a teaser trailer released on Peacock’s official YouTube channel, fans are given a glimpse of dark forests, new Wesen transformations, and a chilling warning: “The bloodline never died—it evolved.” The trailer ends with Nick confronting a new threat in the Black Forest, teasing a deeper dive into the origins of the Grimms themselves.

One of the most exciting developments is the return of Trubel, played by Jacqueline Toboni. Now a hardened rogue Grimm, Trubel is said to have been operating in Europe, uncovering secrets that put her at odds with powerful Wesen factions. Her reunion with Nick will reportedly be a major emotional anchor for the film.

Behind the scenes, the movie features a new score by Emmy-winning composer Bear McCreary, who blends themes from the original show with a darker, more epic sound. “This isn’t just a TV movie—it’s a full-throttle cinematic experience,” McCreary said during a fan Q&A livestream.

Peacock has also confirmed an official companion podcast titled Grimm: Echoes of the Hunt, which will premiere a week before the film’s release and feature behind-the-scenes insights, cast interviews, and lore deep-dives for hardcore fans.

The movie will premiere exclusively on Peacock but is also slated for limited theatrical screenings in select cities. A collector’s Blu-ray and digital release is planned for early 2026, complete with deleted scenes, commentary, and concept art.

For fans of the original series and newcomers alike, Grimm: Legacy Reborn promises to reignite the fantasy-thriller spark that made the show a cult hit. With old mysteries resurfacing and new threats emerging, the world of Wesen is far from done—and its legacy is about to get even darker.
